Abstract: Galaxies display mainly two phases in the color-color diagram, i.e., the blue cloud and red sequence galaxies. How galaxies evolve from one to another is still an open questions. Recent progresses since redshift z~2 will be reviewed in my talk, including the observations mainly by the CANDELS project, and theoretical perspectives etc.. A simple model for the BH growth of galaxies and its role to quench the star formation will be introduced as well.
