Lin Tian received her Ph.D. in physics in 2002 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After holding research positions at Universite Innsbruck, NIST at Gaithersburg, and Stanford University, she joined the School of Natural Sciences at the University of California, Merced, in 2008, and she is now a Professor in Physics. Her recent research interests include theoretical studies of solid-state quantum computing, quantum simulation, adiabatic quantum processes, hybrid quantum systems, opt mechanics, decoherence and noise models.

Abstract:The state-of-the-art of superconducting quantum devices enables the development of medium-sized quantum computers that have the potential to demonstrate quantum advantages over their classical counterparts. In this talk, I will first present our recent studies of superconducting analog quantum simulators, including the construction of spin, fermionic, and bosonic models. Then I’ll discuss the readout of many-body correlators and the preparation of many-body states in these simulators, which are crucial questions in implementing quantum simulation.
